Leveraging Libby: Building Pennsylvania’s First Academic Libby Consortium
November 3, 2026 from 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Frustrated with high ebook costs and Ebook Central’s looming conversion to a “subscription only” model, Librarians from Central Penn College and Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology teamed up to build PA’s first Academic Libby Consortium. The consortium’s shared Libby platform launched in fall of 2025 with 7 college libraries as members. This presentation outlines the process of selecting a vendor and building the consortium, shares marketing strategies used to promote the new platform, and describes what we have learned one year into the process. It will also discuss student reaction to the new platform and ways faculty have integrated Libby resources into their course content.

The Connect & Communicate Series of online programming offered by the PaLA College & Research Division aims to help foster a community of academic librarians in Pennsylvania.
