About CRD
CRD is the College and Research Division of the Pennsylvania Library Association (PaLA).
This division provides a focus for the academic libraries in the state.
Each year the CRD division provides a spring workshop on a topic or topics relevant to academic libraries. Check out this year’s workshop as well as past years’ workshops through our website.
At the annual PaLA Conference, CRD sponsors sessions in the program that focus on academic libraries and a luncheon with an invited guest speaker.
Each year, CRD receives LSTA (Library Services and Technology Act) grant money from the state library. This division then reviews grant applications from across the state for a portion of this LSTA grant money to be used in support of professional development and library programs for academic librarians and libraries.
CRD provides many opportunities for professional development for academic librarians in Pennsylvania. Newly launched is our open access, peer-reviewed journal Pennsylvania Libraries: Research and Practice. The CRD also offers online continuing education and networking opportunities through our Connect & Communicate Series. The CRD continues to publish the “It’s Academic” column in the quarterly PaLA Bulletin.
